The City of Denton has
hired a new Assistant Manager
Mark Cunningham has joined the City of Denton Land Development
Division. Cunningham will take over Denton's planning department
January 2, 2008. Cunningham 42, a former active-duty Marine who
served in the Persian Gulf War.
He has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration, Sojourner
Douglass College, A Masters in Public Administration at the
University of Baltimore. Cunningham brings his experience from Polk
County, Fla. The Denton Black Chamber would like to take this time to
welcome Mark Cunningham to our city.
Johnny Jones, (nick name,
"The Bullet") Men's Basketball Head Coach 2007/2008
John Jones (born March 12, 1943 in Washington, DC) is a retired
American basketball player.

A 6'7" forward from California State University, Los Angeles,
Jones played one season (1967-68) in the National Basketball
Association as a member of the Boston Celtics. He averaged 4.2 points
per game and won an NBA Championship ring when the Celtics defeated
the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1968 NBA Finals. He later played for
the Kentucky Colonels of the American Basketball Association.
Jones received his Bachelor of Science degree from LSU in 1985. The
native of Deridder, La., is a former prep All-America and state Class
4A Most Valuable Player who helped lead DeRidder to a combined 86-26
record during his high school career.
Johnny Jones was hired in 2006 to be the head men's basketball coach
at the University of North Texas. He previously served as the interim
head coach at the University of Memphis. He and his wife, Kelli, are
the parents of two children: John Vincent, and Jillian Nichelle.
Mr. Jones has lead The University of North Texas basketball team
(Mean Green) to a winning spot. As of December 11, 2007 UNT /Mean
Green has lost only two games.
